Fight Your Virginia Reckless Driving Ticket Andrew Flusche 9780985885502 Books Reviews
Mr. Flusche's book has given me the information I need in order to effectively deal with the Reckless Driving ticket I received on I-95 in Virginia. The book is well written and straight forward. It covers everything that Mr. Flusches' extensive experience has given him and all in a consise manner and presentation. I have to say that it came as quite a shock to learn that I had been charged with a criminal offense - Reckless Driving is a Class 1 Misdemeanor in Virginia. I was even more surprised to learn that it would stay on my driving record for 11 years and that it is essentially as bad as a DUI. I contacted Mr. Flusche after reading his book and he has referred me to an attorney in the county where my ticket was issued. Reading this book gave me a good understanding of how things will proceed and what to expect.
This is a 3.5 for me... It is helpful and there is some good information in it, but I feel like I got more information from his website. If you got hit with reckless driving because of speeding it is more helpful than if you got hit with failure to maintain control (like I did). Very nice guy, his office responds to emails and he tries to put you in contract with lawyers in the area of the accident... so he does some things really well and his website is very nice, but I didnt find the book to be as helpful for me unfortunately.
I had a ticket for driving 88 in a 70 mph zone which in retrospect was foolish although given that it was an interstate with little traffic on a clear, dry day and except for an occasional slower driver in the right lane, I was basically keeping up with traffic. Not realizing that my action was considered a criminal offense in Virginia, I considered just signing the 'guilty" portion of the ticket, mailing it in and taking the financial beating that would occur. Shortly, however, solicitations for representation from Virginia Attorneys began to arrive in the mail (I received a dozen in one day), and a reading of the information provided by all, informed me of the trouble I was in.
I searched the web sites of all who sounded reasonable (no big promises), wound up selecting Mr. Flusche for advice and possible hire, and after reading his book which answered as best as it could have, all the questions I had about the process coming up and how to pick an attorney to best represent me I picked Mr. Flusche and in a telephone discussion, he told me that he didn't cover that particular County court and would, If I liked , suggest an equally attentive Attorney who does. The book, by the way, suggests the criteria for picking an attorney and the questions you might ask. He recommended an Attorney who I hired after he had satisfactory answers to all my questions and told me that he personally handled court cases in the particular county court. To make this part of the story shorter, he told me what information he needed from me and he managed just today, without needing my personal appearance in court, to have the charge reduced to speeding (79 in a 70), a ho-hum charge relative to the original criminal charge.
Even shorter if you get a ticket for reckless driving in Virginia, read the book and hire either attorney if the county of your violation is applicable.
So I am grateful to this Attorney and his staff who did what he said he would try to do and I am grateful to Mr. Flusche and his staff for his book and the recommendation. And it all matured as a result of reading the book.
I am a retired tax lawyer. During my career I had no experience with Virginia traffic law. Recently my daughter was involved in a traffic accident on I-395 in a rain storm during heavy traffic. She was given a citation for violating VA Code 46.2-853 “Reckless Driving - Fail to Maintain Proper Control,” and directed to appear in Traffic Court. During background research , I came across Andrew Flusche's book "Fight Your Virginia Reckless Driving Ticket." I found it to be a comprehensive, easy to read discussion of this area of the law and an excellent, INVALUABLE resource in understanding the nature, scope, and potential consequence of being charged with violating this Traffic Law. I highly recommend this book to anyone charged with reckless driving in Virginia.
Total waste of time. Online he talked about calibration of the officer's equipment and the questions to ask in much more detail. This book was more like an outline and a way to get clients. He toots his own horn more than anything else. You can find better information which is more thorough by googling it online.
This book is little more that a paid advertisement (paid by the reader!) for the author's services. It does not address anything beyond speeding and provides very little practical advice. One can easily learn more from free web sites. There were also technical problems with the content of the kindle version I received. Appendix items did not display properly. Not recommended.
If you or your college age children get a reckless driving ticket this booklet is a must read.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who's recently received a reckless driving ticket in Virginia. Although Andrew represented me in court, it was nice to have this guide ahead of time. I knew what to expect, and it really made me feel more comfortable. After reading this, you almost feel like you'd be able to represent yourself in court - however, I'd rather trust the guy who wrote the book!
